California’s Freshwater Shortage
By Aufa Zaafarani Hazwan (1209624158)
California is facing a severe freshwater shortage that is significantly impacting daily life and
business operations across the state. This crisis stems from an unprecedented drought and rising
temperatures, which have drastically reduced water availability. In response, the state
government has implemented strict regulations on water usage for both urban residents and
municipalities.
Agricultural producers have been especially hard-hit, relying increasingly on expensive
groundwater reserves to sustain crop production. The tourism industry has also suffered
particularly ski resorts due to the lack of snow in the mountains. At the same time, drier forests
have heightened the risk of devastating wildfires.
With little rainfall in sight, Californians must continue to adopt and strengthen water
conservation efforts to safeguard their remaining freshwater resources.
