The Impact of Smoking on Health
By Firly Abi Yakhsya (1209624159)
Smoking remains a serious health problem that affects many people around the world. This
happens because tobacco products contain harmful substances like nicotine and tar, which
can damage the body, especially the lungs and heart. These chemicals enter the body when
someone smokes and can lead to health problems over time.
People who smoke have a much higher chance of developing serious diseases such as lung
cancer, heart disease, and chronic lung conditions like asthma or respiratory infections.
Smoking also harms people who don’t smoke, such as family members or children, through
secondhand smoke. Besides damaging health, smoking increases medical costs and lowers
work productivity.
Because of all these effects, it is important for both governments and individuals to work
together to reduce smoking. Programs that help people quit and rules that limit tobacco use
are needed so that fewer people get sick in the future.
