Studying at Home vs. Studying in a Library

Gambar
By Davin Alfaridzy (1209624160) Studying at home and studying in a library both offer advantages, but they cater to different learning preferences and environments. At home, students have the comfort of their personal space, access to snacks, and the freedom to study at any time. It’s a flexible setup, especially for those who enjoy silence or working late at night. However, home can be full of distractions, TV, phones, family members, which may reduce productivity. In contrast, libraries are built for focus. They provide a quiet, structured atmosphere, and the presence of other focused individuals can motivate someone to concentrate better. Libraries also offer access to a wide range of academic resources like books, journals, and databases. On the downside, libraries may have limited hours and rules that some find restrictive. While home offers comfort and convenience, the library offers discipline and access to learning materials. Ultimately, the better option depends on t...

Fast food vs. homemade food

Gambar
By Alvina Najla Nurwidyana (1209624037)  Fast food and homemade food both serve the same primary function of satisfying our hungry stomachs, but they contrast in several other ways, such as healthiness, cost, and convenience. The most obvious reason is that homemade is usually healthier. At home, you can come up with a fresh fruit or vegetable instead of cooked, plus one less bit of oil. Foods prepared at home also carry no preservatives. On the other hand, fast food tends to be heavy in liberal doses of sodium and sugar, as well as various types of bad fats. It may taste good while it is fresh from the pan for convenience now, but consistent eating of fast food can bring on health problems later in life, such as weight gain, high blood pressure, or diabetes. Additionally, home-cooked meals are also cheaper, and you can continue to be good news for your budget in the end. And even though shopping for ingredients and cooking can feel expensive and time-consuming up ...

Why Millions Still Lack Access to Proper Education

Gambar
By Firly Abi Yakhsya (1209624159)  In many developing countries, access to quality education remains a serious problem. Some students are forced to study in outdoor spaces with no walls, no desks, and limited learning materials. Many schools are overcrowded and lack enough trained teachers. These poor learning conditions make it hard for students to focus or get the help they need, especially in rural areas. As a result, many students fall behind in class or even drop out of school entirely. This situation doesn’t just affect students individually it also impacts their families and communities. Without a good education, young people have fewer job opportunities and less chance to improve their living conditions. Over time, this limits economic growth and keeps the cycle of poverty going. Education should be a way out, but for many, it becomes another barrier.

The Overuse of Smartphones Among Teenagers

Gambar
By Davin Alfaridzy (1209624160) The overuse of smartphones among teenagers is becoming a serious issue that affects both their mental health and academic performance. Many teens spend hours scrolling through social media, playing games, or watching videos, leading to poor sleep, lack of focus, and even anxiety or depression. This addiction not only affects their studies but also weakens real-life social interactions. One solution to this growing problem is encouraging digital balance through education and parental involvement. Schools can hold workshops to raise awareness about screen time limits and the dangers of overuse. Parents can also play a role by setting screen time restrictions and promoting phone-free activities like sports, reading, or family time. Another effective approach is using apps that track screen time and alert users when they exceed healthy limits. By creating a healthy relationship with technology, teenagers can enjoy the benefits of smartphones withou...

The Impact of Smoking on Health

Gambar
By Firly Abi Yakhsya (1209624159)  Smoking remains a serious health problem that affects many people around the world. This happens because tobacco products contain harmful substances like nicotine and tar, which can damage the body, especially the lungs and heart. These chemicals enter the body when someone smokes and can lead to health problems over time. People who smoke have a much higher chance of developing serious diseases such as lung cancer, heart disease, and chronic lung conditions like asthma or respiratory infections. Smoking also harms people who don’t smoke, such as family members or children, through secondhand smoke. Besides damaging health, smoking increases medical costs and lowers work productivity. Because of all these effects, it is important for both governments and individuals to work together to reduce smoking. Programs that help people quit and rules that limit tobacco use are needed so that fewer people get sick in the future.

California’s Freshwater Shortage

Gambar
By Aufa Zaafarani Hazwan (1209624158) California is facing a severe freshwater shortage that is significantly impacting daily life and business operations across the state. This crisis stems from an unprecedented drought and rising temperatures, which have drastically reduced water availability. In response, the state government has implemented strict regulations on water usage for both urban residents and municipalities. Agricultural producers have been especially hard-hit, relying increasingly on expensive groundwater reserves to sustain crop production. The tourism industry has also suffered particularly ski resorts due to the lack of snow in the mountains. At the same time, drier forests have heightened the risk of devastating wildfires. With little rainfall in sight, Californians must continue to adopt and strengthen water conservation efforts to safeguard their remaining freshwater resources.

My Favorite Sneakers

Gambar
By Aufa Zaafarani Hazwan (1209624158) My favorite pair of sneakers is a well-worn set of New Balance runners not flashy, but a steadfast companion through countless walks and city wanderings. The upper, crafted from a soft blend of suede and mesh, has lost its original crispness, yet retains a quiet, unassuming charm. The oversized "N" stitched on the side blends seamlessly into the muted palette of off white and gray, understated yet iconic. The laces, now slightly frayed, speak of the many miles they’ve travelled silent witnesses to everyday adventures and unexpected detours. Underneath, the thick, rugged soles remain durable, though gently worn. Each scuff, each smoothed-out groove, is a memory etched in rubber a trace of movement, of places explored, of time quietly slipping by. Though far from pristine, they mold to my feet with unmatched familiarity, offering a comfort that only years of wear can provide. Reliable and time-tested, they carry me forward wi...
